Val Kilmer’s last ever Instagram posts as daughter confirms cause of death
Val Kilmer, the 65-year-old actor known for roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever, passed away on April 1 after battling health issues for years. His daughter, Mercedes, confirmed his death was due to pneumonia. Kilmer had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, which led to chemotherapy and a tracheotomy, leaving permanent damage to his vocal cords.

In his 2020 memoir and the documentary Val, Kilmer shared his struggles with his health, including difficulty speaking. His final film appearance was in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), where he reprised his role as Iceman. After his cancer treatment, he shifted his focus to art, frequently posting his works on Instagram. His last post, just days before his death, was of a painting with a reflective caption.

Tributes poured in following his passing, with actor Josh Brolin praising Kilmer’s creativity and courage. Josh Gad also honored him, recalling his impact on childhood films. Rest in peace, Val Kilmer.
