JD Vance Warns World Cup Tourists: ‘Don’t Overstay Your Welcome’—Ice’ Barbie Will Be Watching
Vice President JD Vance, named vice chair of the 2026 FIFA World Cup by President Donald Trump, addressed attendees during a press conference on May 6, 2025.
While he expressed excitement for the event, which will be co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico, he issued a warning to tourists planning to attend. Vance stated that while visitors from around 100 countries are welcome to come and enjoy the games, they must leave when the event ends, or else they’ll have to speak to Secretary Noem.
Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, forecasted over two million foreign visitors for the event, and emphasized the need for adherence to visa rules. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy echoed this sentiment, reminding attendees not to overstay their visas.
This follows Trump’s previous policies on immigration, including mass deportations and high-profile cases like the deportation of Kilmar Armando Ábrego García to El Salvador.
The message was clear: enjoy the World Cup, but respect the US immigration rules.
